#5FMBornToPlay, where listeners stand the chance to win a share of R50 000. 5FM is also revealing an on-air birthday game ever: a national radio-powered version of "Pass the Presents", where listeners unwrap parcel layers live on air to stand a chance to win, says the station.

Throughout the month, listeners can join and expect VIP ticket giveaways to parties in South Africa, exclusive access, presenter appearances, celebrations and merchandise across the station's airwaves, app and socials.

5FM aims to pay homage to its heritage by going back to the roots where many of the stations names first found their voice, with live broadcasts from various campus radio stations, says the station.

"5FM is the authority in youth music, news and culture, and there's no better way to live that than with our birthday month — louder, braver, geared towards the new generation and built for only one thing: a level higher," says Masi Mdingane, Business Manager for 5FM and Good Hope FM.

"We keep reinventing ourselves to remain the cross-platform beat that Mzansi's young movers and shakers move to," concludes Mdingane. "This birthday month is a celebration of the beautiful places we've been, and the thrilling new heights we're going to next. October to the 'power of 5' is one thing you do not want to miss."
